Interested...

We've had a lot of interest and feedback on ten and six webpage at the moment, which is fabulous! The more we hear the better! As Anna Wintour once said sometimes the best experience is getting fired! I suppose that's because it helps to navigate you! So I will be employing some of these tactics including a second eye to spot those horrific tablet and iPhone errors! I'm a technology bimbo what can I say! But hey it's a learning curve! And eyes peeled on here for a few vintage reviews we have in the midst! We like to shop vintage, so we may as well educate! Right!!???

Anyhu, chat later! But with better grammar! :p Rae xo

Vintage Events

Here at Vintage clothes 10 and 6. We appreciate the finer things in life, and what can beat a good brew and some knitting?

Britain and it's economy is experiencing a dry spell. Less of us are able to use the techniques where we're able to develop our own sense of style, and individuality, which was probably vastly adopted in the past. Schools place less emphasis on skills such as dressmaking/and knitting and the 'hype' of the Noughties largely focuses on social media networking.
Well what about meeting people, and learning a great skill over a nice cuppa Earl Grey or a Ginger Beer.
Well, we're supporting this ideology and looking to get a little crowd together, to form some knit and Natter classes in the Urban wonder of Manchester's Northern Quarter. At the moment we're just awaiting to see how many faces would be interested in participating. The initial classes will be to help beginners with the basics of knitting.
The classes are likely to be held on a Tuesday evening in the Art Cafe NEXUS. Which provides a great arty and inspirational venue.

Cuppa tea please...

Note this fabulous accessory that also came back from the south... Im always in need of a good Earl grey so I just couldn't resist! Saves me having to warm up the teapot continuously! And now for a Cuppa...

A delightful time in Landan Town!

Well what a fabulous 'age turning occasion. This birthday I've been lucky enough to explore some urban haunts and vintage wonders London town has to offer...

An Aladdins cave of wonders, I can honestly say my favourite place was, Brick lane. Sticking to the urban feel, that places such as Manchester's Northern Quarter have. The vintage here took on a cheeky twist. With bowler and top hats put a theatrical and Chaplin feel. Whilst some of the store's tilted their hats to Urban Outfitters and American Apparel, with a grunge and 80's ambience; With faded denims, sequins, elaborate shoulder details an rainbow colours! This varied to Manchester's Northern neutral pallets which must be vastly adopted from the Pennine inspired rustic pieces!

So my verdict is a must visit! And I'd say throw yourself into the vintage high street.

Ciao for now lovelies!

Of an age... (almost)

Soooooooo 25 tomorrow... And got to say it totally sucks. Been doing Bikram yoga, aka yoga in a steam room. For the run up to the Un-golden age. In hope I won't awake and feel old! Ha ha anyhu, should see more from me and the webpage after a jam packed weekend. Popping over to East London too on Sat, to see one of the beauties. I'm told that I'll be blown away by some of the vintage hubs there! Which excites me! So expect a full trend report after!

Yayyyyy! Canny wait! Loves Rae xo

Valentines Day...

Is it really about the roses, the chocolate and the new and hilarious Asda smart price cards... hmmm...

"You will only expect a few words, what will those be?

When the heart is full it may run over, but the real fullness stays within.
You asked me yesterday "if I should repent?"

Yes, my own Ba, I could with all the past were to do over again, that in it I might somewhat more, never so little more, conform in the outward homage, to the inward feeling, What I have professed, (for I have performed nothing) seems to fall short of what my first love required even, and when I think of this moment's love...I could repent, as I say.Words can never tell you, however, form them, transform them anyway, how perfectly dear you are to me, perfectly dear to my heart and soul. I look back, and in every one point, every word and gesture, every letter, every silence, you have been entirely perfect to me, I would not change one word, one look. My hope and aim are to preserve this love, not to fall from it, for which I trust to God who procured it for me, and doubtless can preserve it. Enough now, my dearest, dearest, own Ba! You have given me the highest, completest proof of love that ever one human being gave another. I am all gratitude, and all pride (under the proper feeling which ascribes pride to the right source) all pride that my life has been so crowned by you. God bless you prays your very own R."

Robert Browining to Elizabeth barret Browinhg.

Now thats Vintage... yup as it turns out NONE of the 'boys' (posing as men.) I've met would be capable of any of those fantastic collections in the ever so popular book- Love Letters of Great men. I guess thats why its titled 'Love letters of great men'...

Right!?!?

Tumblr pics of my week...

Including this Cheeky Bennie Hart pic... The younger version of me, and a budding creative. Nic to talk to him yesterday, probably made my horrific last two weeks ^-^ Definatly need to enquire as to where he's found that mirror as I NEED to acquire it pronto...

Victimised...

It seems a nice round lens has taken centre stage... and Ive been taking the michael of my daddies Versace round spectacles. It appears that if your going to 'vintage wear,' this season, round Sunnies are a must! Well... can't help being a victim to fashion if it looks this darn good! What can i say!

Furniture love...

Some fabulous Eclectic interiors which help Vintage furniture get a little bit of loving! Don't chuck it out!!! Re-vamp it. After all we're in a recession you know. Cover those seats with some lovely vintage satins. Mis-match your chairs, and why not throw in some Cuckoo clocks, Treasure chests and ornate lampshades, its not fairytale furniture, If its good enough for Paris it's good enough for you and I. Lets get on it!

Vintage fairing

So as you can probably see by the cheeky pics we've put up we've been busy vintage fairing, and oh me oh my, i certainly have got a labour for you. The smell of of vintage furs, and hidden stories just Ooazes from the clothing at fairs, I think its the best place to pick up pieces, Buying in bulk often means that you get a bag of crap, just to fill. But fairs mean that you've collected pieces that really have been lost and in need of a little loving. I've managed to get myself the most delicious sunglasses their just super fabulous! Or Amazeballs as I may also say. Love em'. There in the original leather case and originally 40's-50's glasses. They've bowed slightly where the plastic has warmed. But I intend to warm them up and give them a little love. The most horrific thing is that now I have them. I just can't seem to let them go! I bought them for the webpage! But I truly think I've fallen in love with them. I just can't wait to get to the next fair.

Oh and I also managed to find some lovely jubly patterns. Fabric patterns can be expensive from stores, I managed to get a few original vogue patterns some 50's and a few 80's . The 80's pattern is just perfect for the dress fabric I got at weekend with the girlies a nice rustic orange and Yellow. I'm going to do the dress half and half so should be lovely. Thats after I've finished my 50's summer dress.

Now all I need is some brown or gold elastic which is chunky enough to be a waist band... So I can also make a lovely skirt, and that means I have a percentage of my spring/summer wardrobe for next to nothing...

Love it!  I'll take a few cheeky snapshots for you to have a gander at.

Typical British weather...

So it's super duper 'chilly' I've been in the Russian fur hat today and the mittens on saturday. It's blooming' freezing and a veil of lacy snow has covered the City centre which will probably expire tomorrow leaving  some form of delicious slushy substance... Ick!

Needs me one of these- (in truly vintage style obviously)...
